🌀Putting it all together

Welcome to the last lesson of our programmatic SEO course. Now you’ve got:

  • A content template

  • A design

  • Valuable data that’ll be at the heart of your pSEO collection

So it’s time to put it all together. Let’s compare a couple of approaches.

Let it be the developers’ problem

Maybe you’ve got an in-house development team, so your developers will bring all the elements into your CMS/templating engine and get the collection set up for you.

If you’re one of the lucky ones, you may feel inclined to completely overlook this and move forward to our next lesson. But not so fast. Make sure you:

  • Give clear instructions to your dev team, so they understand the peculiarities of the collection

  • Advice and guide them throughout the implementation process, as to prevent technical SEO issues

But - what if you’ve got a team of developers, but don’t want to invest engineering resources into a programmatic SEO program?

Then, programmatic SEO platforms may be right for you.

Programmatic SEO platforms

There are SaaS platforms that allow non-technical users to connect their data, content template and CMS, to produce pages at scale.

Some common choices include:

Why we 💙 using Webflow for Programmatic SEO

If your website runs on Webflow, we’ve got great news for you. Webflow’s probably the best platform for creating and managing programmatic SEO collections as a non-technical marketer.

Webflow’s designer interface makes it easy for non-developers to visualize and edit content. Meanwhile, Webflow’s CMS makes importing and editing content quite intuitive - even at scale. And the fact that there are thousands of integrations available makes it so you can easily set up a custom workflow, without code.

Here’s a quick, schematic example showing the workings of a self-updating programmatic collection we’ve recently created for a client:

This collection has approximately 200 pages at the moment, and it features another interesting element: Editors can choose different content templates for different paragraphs straight from the CMS, using a Select field.

Webflow’s limitations

If you’re going hardcore with your programmatic SEO collection, we recommend bringing a developer on board and using Next.js or Astro instead of Webflow.

But, what do we mean by “going hardcore”? Well, you’ll struggle with your pSEO collection if:

  • You want to load over 3,000 CMS items on a single page.

  • You’re looking to produce over 10,000 pages.

Anything more modest can be run on Webflow without difficulties.
